Joselyn’s journey into music began at age 4 in a group piano class for preschoolers, where on the very first day of class she began picking out the melody of “We Will Rock You” by ear. The teacher asked her mom if they had a piano or keyboard at home and upon hearing that they had neither responded, “Keep this one in music.” Joselyn is now sixteen, and her main instruments are harp and mandolin, but she also plays piano, guitar, ukulele, and clawhammer-banjo, as well as writes her own songs. She has performed with Michael Franti five times, as well as stood in with her bluegrass heroes Aj Lee & Blue Summit, Della Mae, and Sister Sadie. She has studied on mandolin with Jack Tuttle, on harp with Penny Beavers and Alexander Boldachev, on vocals and songwriting with Celia Woodsmith. She is an award-winning harpist, and has played with San Luis Obispo’s Orchestra Novo, as well as the Santa Maria Philharmonic. A few years ago she fell head over heels in love with bluegrass, and is now the lead singer and harpist in the bluegrass band Blue Birds On A Wire. She is also the Youth Ambassador for the California Bluegrass Association.

“After more than a year of dreaming about getting a Northfield mandolin, I was able to get a Big Mon. To say my dreams were fulfilled would be the understatement of the century. I opened the box as soon as it arrived and it was love at first pick. The tone of this mandolin is deep and clear, it has great volume and is a beautiful instrument in every way.
